I was reading twilight for the 3rd time on the plane home from Hawaii

...but I noticed when Edward and Bella are talking about Edwards powers hypothectically...I think its when they are eating lunch together...Edward is "Joe" but Bella is refered to as "Jane." Is that signifigant or just a conincidence?

Because there is an actual Jane later in the series?

There is a Jane later on in the series as in from the Volturia <- (sp?) I believe, but I don't think there's a Joe,

i think it's just coincedence. bella and edward just want common names, and they happen to choose joe and jane.

I’m pretty sure that it was coincidental. Like it is stated above, Jane is simply a common female name. I don’t think that it could represent anything in Bella’s future, because if Bella is changed into a vampire, I highly doubt she would be comparable to Jane. She will be with the Cullens, and therefore, adopt their lifestyle.

coincidence. there is no way edward would compare bella to an evil vampire he "knows". edward's too good to do that

huh. i never thought of that. maybe coincidence, since jane and joe both start with J's, or maybe just plain jane bella?

ooh. maybe that's a hint to what bella's power would be but stephenie says she just writes what ever comes out so idk if she would plan that far ahead. idk. but maybe bella's power would be like causing people to be happy instead of in pain like jane. idk. she could have based it off of that but i doubt it. just a random thought. but yeah i thought of that john and jane doe thing too. maybe it was a coincidence. idk ... sorry. not much of a help. =p

I dont think it is a conincidence cuz later on he tells u about her. I think it was the first name that poped in to his head for some odd reason. but mabye it is we just have to ask S.M.

I think it's a conicidence, because Stephenie Meyer said when she was writing Twilight, she wasn't planning on making sequels for it.

Maybe Stephenie just accidently used the name twice or something because it is a common name and sometimes after I use a name once in something I have to use it again.
