I'm not sure if SM has said anything about it that I haven't read yet, but I was wondering what happened to Jake's mom. Did she die? Did she leave, not being able to handle Billy (or Jake) being a werewolf? Anyone have any ideas?

Maybe Jake's mom died while Billy and her were either engaged or going out. Or shedied at child birth. Or maybe, like Sam and emily, Billy lost his temper and hurt her so bad that she bled to death or something. *GASP* WHAT IF SM MADE IT SO THAT RENAEE' WAS JACOB'S AND BELLA MOTHER?!?!?! THAT WOULD TURN EVERYTHING UPSIDE-DOWN AND INSIDE OUT!!! :shock:

It is vaguely mentioned in BD, but it only makes it frustrating. Grr! tell us already Stephenie.

My guess (based off the info in BD) was that a werewolf-related accident happened.. probably one of them lost control.. :[

SM says in an interview (one of the ones at the Twilight Lexicon) that she died in a car crash. SM also mentions this in passing during Breaking Dawn.

They said she died when he was little, so I don't think it was a problem with the werewolves cause there still weren't any in La Push at that time.
