Here is my theory. Edward and Jared are both lean, smart, slightly sarcastic in thier manner, and passionate. Jacob and Ian are big boys who are kind of rash, sweet, strong willed. So i think that in the host, how ian gets wanda in the end, its stephenies way of giving the character jacob/ian the girl in the end. Kinda a mirror of twilight. The only thing is that jared gets his girl in the end as well, but its not the main character. so thats my theory. any thoughts?

idk... i don't think that jared is much like either of them but ian def. has tons of qualities from edward and jacob...like he would do what it takes to protect the girl he loves and will fight for the girl he loves. ian did remind me of jacob because of his friendliness and always wanting to please wanda. idk if that makes sense but it the only way i can explain it. =]

I dont think so cuz ian is so much sweeter than jacob and if anything it would be switched. i think ian would be edward because jared is so much more on edge w/believing wanda and stuff. and i think jacob gets mad and so does jared. and ian is so sweet like edward and yeah they hav more qualities that r similar than the other way around.

I don't like much jared,and i think is quite different to edward but I prefer Ian, and I think is totally different to jacob!(I hate jacob!!)

It's bothering me that people don't like Jared because of his treatment to Wanda. He thought she was the enemy. She 'killed' his reason for living. What if someone killed your mom or your brother and then walzed around wearing his or hers' face? I would be furiated and sad. Toward the end Jared lightened up on Wanda and helped her and even admitted that he loved her in his own way. After he knew for sure what had happened and that Mel ws alive he actually became a close friend to Wanda.
Jared is definately my favorite character in this novel. I fell in love with him. He's sweet and hurt and hot. To me he's kinda a mix between Edward and Jake. I see Ian more as an Emmett. Well anyway don't hate poor Jared.
