Persuading guys to read twilight.....

Postby FireAndIce on Wed May 21, 2008 3:41 pm

I thought i'd put a question out there: have you ever persuaded a guy to read Twilight?? And if so, how?

Basically, i'm trying to persuade my 21 year old brother to read it, and he's just not co-operating lol!!!! He's always saying stuff like 'Why do you like 'Twilight' so much?!?!' ... So i challenged him to read it, and i believe he feels that if he reads Twilight, he's gonna have to have his 'Man Card' taken off of him! hahaha.
He's always reading, and i asked him earlier 'how many books are you reading??' He said, 'Three. Four if you include Twilight... which i dont!' *grins*' I was like 'You should always include Twilight in your life!' Then he just rolled his eyes lol.

My other brother (19), read Twilight when we were on holiday, but only because me and my best friend ambushed him and cornered him, and basically FORCED him to read it  He did like it (but not nearly as much as me!! Is that possible?!?!). He read New Moon and Eclipse pretty speedily, but he'd never admit that he likes them (i just dont understand men sometimes! LOL). He's always making remarks like 'Edward's obviously going to turn out to be gay', to which i respond with smacking him on the arm :D

Anyways, anyone have any funny stories about trying to make guys read twilight??

Oooh, yes, I do I do!

Well, I actually convinced a friend of mine to read Twilight. He finally read it in January, just to shut me up really. He made up his own version, Twi-lust, in which Edward and Jacob are now dating and Edward is Mr. Banner's love child. Boys *rolls eyes*
Anyway, then I leant him New Moon and he hasn't given it back yet! I usually make it a rule not to lend books to people, but I was winning a battle to get a guy to read Twilight. Big mistake.

LoL! I don't think I could ever convince my brother to read it, but my little cousins that's a whole other story. We were in my room one day and he saw my book. He told me many of his friends read it and I was like dats cool. And he's like you don't mind if I borrow it? and I'm like of course not.. A couple days later he was begging me for New Moon. I told him he got addicted, but he says, no it's just a good book... LoL

It's not hard to convince guys. I just mess around with my guy friends and say there's some sexual activities there and they just grab the book from my hands. LoL But some of my guy friends actually read the book and liked it LoL

LMAO boys will be boys but what you said made me laugh. My friends never really got there, but they said it would be pretty hilarious if both Edward and Jacob get tired of Bella always being in trouble and just end up together or something like that... Weird people... LoL

Lol! I know! Its so funny. Its just typical boys to...er...make a nice book kinky. And its so funny because thats totally what would happen if Twilight was a soap opera.

^ Actually my friend who recommended Twilight to me found out through a guy. He idolises Edward as a sort of role-model or something...
Interesting, huh?

If guys modelled themselves on Edward Cullen, they would be GUARANTEED more action LOL! And all the girls would be happy, because there would be 'Edward Cullens' walking around the world.
Everyone's a winner! :D

I got a guy at school to read Twilight, but he's gay, so he could understand the obsession haha! we now argue about who owns Edward, it's VERY funny lol! :)

I successfully managed to get a guy friend to read it, and he admits to liking it - though he does winge about Bella's whining (understandably - it annoys me sometimes and i'm a girl :P). We first became friends over our mutual love for Buffy and Angel, so when I started fanaticising about a new vampire fandom, i pulled him on the bandwagon. It really was no trouble at all.

Now some funny twi-guy related stories:
My friend and I were waiting outside our homeroom class for our teacher to arrive and we were discussing the various aspects of Twilight's greatness. When one of the guys in our class overheard, he blasted into a sort of mini-tirade about "whats so special about this book series? all there is is some hot vampire guy who has super powers and sparkles in the sun going 'i'm gonna bite you cause you smell so good, but no i'm not cause i love you'". We then proceded to mock him because although he claimed to not understand our fscination, he knew just as much about the series as any fan :D
Also I was in my local Angus&Robinson the other day looking for the Host when I heard the words "new moon" and "jacob balck". Naturally my ears perked at the Twilight references and, searching for the source who do I find but 2 MALE employies of the store vigouressly debating the pros and cons of the Bella+Jacob relationship. I had to run away to keep from bursting out laughing/joining in. NOW that was funny!

My mate got her boyfriend to read it, but I don't know how. I'm sure it was some form of blackmail though lol.

Yeah, i was telling my two best friends about it (who are girls) that have never read it. Then, this guy in my class comes up and is like, what book are you so obsessed with? i told him and he goes, 'Twilight is for queers' and he was like how do u like that book? and of course my natural defense for Twilight kicks in and im like, if Twilight is for queers then i guess im a queer!!!

OMG there's this guy in my grade that is like a "no-read" kind of person. I found him in the library one time and guess which book he had his nose jammed into?? Yes, Twilight. I scared him and he just said that he was looking for a bookmark he lost in one of the books. I finally convinced him to check it out and read it... and he's on page 50 last time I checked. Can't put it down!!

uh . . . most of the people I talk to about twilight ((from my school)) are guys . . . and they don't think of it as a girly book . . . neither do I for that matter . . .

and they sure are learning a few things from our dear Edward. ;]

haha. i think that guys just say that edward will turn up gay because they are just too imbarrassed by the fact that they love the intesity of bella and edward's love. again. that's just my thought. haha. maybe idk. i'm not a guy. i wouldn't know. =]
