i was reading some of the questions on SM's website and she said some of the guys are portrayed from her real life. i was just wondering if anyone knew why she gave that certain name to that guy and one to another (ex. edward and jacob) and who they were portrayed after.

did you read all the questions? she wanted old fashion names for her vampires -cullens- and maybe Edward might be an old fashion name for her husband? okay, what i'm saying is ..... Edward in the book represents her husband maybe but she wanted old fashion names, so she named him Edward. that's the best i've got.

For Edward she wanted an old fashioned name that was once considered romantic. But he is in no way like her husband, as much as he thinks Edward is based on him

After writing the series Bella became like a daughter to Stephenie so she named her Isabella, the name they had been saving for their daughter (if they ever had one).

Umm Lauren was for a friend of hers, but I don't remember why.

Here's a quote about a couple names, including Lauren, from the Twilight Lexicon...

A: Stephenie said that she didn’t even realize that before. And she actually really likes the name Lauren. Her sister (or friend?) wanted to name a daughter Lauren, but wasn’t able to, so Stephenie offered to put the name in her book. The woman was like, “Ok, but she has to be a blond.” And Stephenie was like, “There’s a blonde, but she’s not very nice…” And the woman said that was ok… and thus Lauren was born. Yeah. I've also heard in various interviews that she has all of her siblings names (Emily, Jacob, Seth, Paul, and Heidi) somewhere in the books, but the only character that actually relates to the sibling they are named after is Paul.

Several of the characters are friends or family. Lauren was named because one of her friends wanted a blonde character to be named Lauren. Stephenie told her there was only one blonde character & she wasn't very nice.

Edward she said was an old fashioned name that she wanted to use.
Bella was short for Isabella, a name she had been saving for her daughter...
Emily was her sister who read her drafts...and then pushed her to publush.. =]
thts all i know, except tht her brothers know ALOT about cars...
