Twilight Audiobook?

Postby withoutwings on Wed Apr 23, 2008 8:25 pm

Okay so I am a little bit of a Twilight freak.

And I assume most of you are, so I'm going to let you in on a little secret.

I have read Twilight 11 times and love it each time. But I wanted to shake things up a bit so I started listening to the audiobook.

I love it! I've never listened to one before and I adore it. To hear Twilight in another perspective other than my own voice is amazing. I plan on listening to the audiobooks for the other novels as well.

Once I'm finished the Twilight audiobook though as it's roughly 14 hours of listening!

It's pretty much the only thing that I listen to on my iPod now. So yeah, to get on with my ACTUAL question..

For those of you who have listened or are listening to the audiobook, what is your perspective on it?

Do you like listening to it almost as much as you like reading it yourself?

I actually ended up listening to the audio books before i read twilight and i thought they were pretty good, I was kind of skeptical on buying a whole series without any input on it.

I ended up downloading the audio books for a sneak peak and whether or not I would like the series, but well i loved the first one so much I listened to the whole series 3 times on audiobook.

I think that the audiobooks are great and give a you a different perspective on things. They also allow you to multi-task while listening :)

Oh Goodness.
I HATE the audiobooks for Twilight.
Seriously, I think I hate them with a passion.
I actually hate them so much, that my friend is getting ME to record them myself. Because when she was in the hospital, I would read them to her and she won't listen to them now unless I do it.

So yep, I have a project.
:]

And I am not trying to sound arrogant or anything about this. It's just, I literally can NOT stand the voice on the audio... nothing personal, but UGH!

Oh I can understand what you mean and I really did have to try hard to listen to her voice.

But now I've gotten used to it. She also does the voice for one of Meg Cabot's books. Ummm.. How to Be Popular I think. I listened to a sample of it.

Sure sure, I guess I can see what you are saying.

I just have a thing about voices. If I don't like it, I just cringe everytime I hear it. Like that one kid in my AP Gov class..... haha

In gym, we have to run laps, when I get my iPod next week, the audiobooks are going on first so I can listen and run. Before I used to pretend I was in italy, running for edward, but that didn't work. Now I can run and 'read' Twilight at the same time! YAY!

Ok, Treesha, I TOTALLY agree with you about the voice! I CANNOT stand the way she says "Bella"... soooo slowly, everytime and says EVERY syllable. It's horribly irritating. And the way she talks when she's Edward triggers my gag reflex. lol.

BUT I love them. I can't even lie. I listen to them ALL the time...

Lmao.

I just finished the Twilight audiobook.

And as I read these comments I realize what you are talking about. Lmao at the whole Bella thing.

Plus I do kind of hate her Edward voice as I imagine it far better in my head.

Well, I guess you could say I am a bit neutral. I am Switzerland :) haha! Anyways, I hate the way she speaks in a monotone. I guess it sounds the same to me no matter who she is talking for. She doesn't really put enough emotion into the whole thing I think. One part in particular that I do not like (and I am especially picky about this because it is a line by Edward :)) When Edward says "No!" in Chapter 1 of New Moon, I always imagined it sort of as a growl, sort of short the way it is written. In the audiobooks, she says it more like "NOOOOOOO!" and I do not know why, but it just really annoys me. Yet despite all that, I listen to the audiobooks all the time. I love to listen to them while I am multi-tasking and it is easier by far than walking home with a book glued to my face. ^.^

Lmao I was actually thinking the same thing while listening. She says some things that I found were said totally different than in my head. There was one part that really bothered me but I forget.

Humph. Maybe it will come to me soon.
And after reading a bunch of these comments I am becoming Switzerland as well. :P

Oh and I only listen to the audiobooks when I am multitasking too. For instance, it takes me an hour and a half to straighten my hair and whenever build up the courage to do so I listen to it. My hair is naturally in ringlets if you're wondering why it takes so long. Haha

only i hated how it was sooooo slow! like ... the part where bella was running around, in italy, trying to find edward i was like, "READ FASTER WOMAN!!!! ARG!!!!" i was sooo edgy!

Hmm. I listened to the little sample of one of the audiobooks, and I hated the woman's voice so I didn't get it. But now I'm thinking of all of the things I can do while listening to twilight, and it sounds good. Maybe I can stand the her voice if it means I can spend more time on Twilight...
