Question: A quote I didn't understand

*finds book*

Okaysss, In the Hardback eclipse it is the bottum of page 547-548
when Seth is fighting with Riley.

"No, he won't turn on me," Edward said, answering the question in Victoria's head. He used her distraction to slide closer. "you provided us with a common enemy. You allied us."
She clenched her teeth, trying to keep her focus on Edward alone.
"look more closely, Victoria," he murmured, pulling at the threads of her concentration. "Is he really so much like the monster James tracked across Siberia?"
Her eyes popped wide open, and then began flickering wildly from Edward to Seth to me, around and around.
"Not the same?" She snarled in her little girl's soprano.
"Impossible!"
"Nothing is impossible,"

I had to read it a few times before it started to make sence, but am I right in assuming that James must have tracked another Werewolf? and Victoria was now questioning what Seth was?

I've always taken it to mean that maybe there may be something else out there. Because he tells her to look more closely, and if Seth really is like what James was tracking in Siberia. And she says 'not the same? impossible!'. So I always thought that meant that they weren't the same, that James was tracking something else.

But I don't really know...That section always made me scratch my head.

I'm thinking he tracked another werewolf in Siberia, and he must've gotten a bit hurt. And Edward probably used the thought of James to hurt Victoria.

I think that maybe James fought with another creature, not a werewolf, but maybe they were similar. And Victoria thought that if James could take one down, so could she. (if he won the fight, i don't know if james won)
She was way wrong of course.
She came to understand that any world without him couldn't possibly be her world

Go team Edward!

somewhere, I read that SM meant there are different types of werewolves. because everyone was sort of confused on that line. but she meant, that like there are good and bad vampires, there are the same with werewolves. and Victoria didn't get that.
I'll try to find where I read it though.

What if the werewolf James met in Siberia was Sam's dad since he left but still had the werewolf gene 0_0

I wonder if it's like, a sortof foreshadowing with a little bit of flashback?
It might come back in the fourth book.
That'd be pretty interesting if it did.

Then again, wouldn't have Edward told Bella about it before?

This part confused me.
I just figured that since there are vampires in other places there could be other werewolves too.

it probably will come back in the fourth book, I mean, thats pretty serious if it doesn't. It's really confusing.

I think that just like there are other vampires out there, there are werewolves as well... and probably ones, who, unlike the Quiliutes, don't have a treaty with vampires and probably actively hunt them down.
