i thought that a couple of times, but maybe alice wasn't focusing on bella supposedly talking with her mom, because she thought that everything was going alright, and james had already known that bella would come and try to save her mom. so i guess it wouldnt change the future that much.

Another thing at this part I never got was how could Alice and Jasper not hear James on the phone? I mean certainly, if they can hear Bella's heartbeat, than wouldn' they be able to hear James on the phone? I can at times hear who is on the phone when someone else is on it.

Any ideas?

maybe when james used her mother's voice on the phone they didnt have much thought to what bella and her "mom" were talking about, and tried to give her as much privacy as possible, but i think it would be exceptionally hard for alice to do so..thats just my thoughts, though.

I think that the whole phone/voice thing is just a plot hole, but only a teeny-tiny one.

Or, maybe he was being uber-quiet, and Alice and Jasper were in the next room? Although hotel walls aren't very thick...

maybe to see what james had in his plan that held a huge secret that even alice couldnt figure out?

hey i always wonderd that too. i was thinkin to myself why didnt alice see that.

i think she did see it but when she picked up the phone and (thought) it was bella's mom just ignored it and started focusing on james's actions of where he is again so she didnt think anything a/b it. maybe when james called she knew it would happen but when she picked up the phone and its bellas' moms voice just thought to herself maybe im thinking to hard on this and maybe if he does call while shes on the phone he'll never get through. cus every action changes the future.

sounds good to me i dont wanna find a part in the book that doesnt go good with what alice can do..you know wht i mean? make it seem like sm didnt plan it out good enough.

well no not necisarily, do you remember in eclipse when bella tires to sneak off to see jake? or better yet in the airport in twilight? well they were both spru of the moment....alice didnt see bella sneaking off in the airport....or when she saw the flyers at the newtons store...

I dont think she saw it because it was all to quick, she cant see the past only the future.

I think we have to remember Alice is not God.

She's not omniscent. She's close, but she's far from Seeing All. Alice Cullen (Take a deep breath everyone...) was not expecting this sort of thing at all. She was distracted with plane plans and while Bella's well-being was a HUGE priority, things do slip.

I thought about this when I was reading alice's vision in twilight yesterday
and i realized that she did!
yea..remember when she sees James in Bellas Mom's house in the day?
yea thats when he calls her
Alice saw him there but her vision wasn't complete because some decisions were missing like she said. because James wasn't sure about some stuff I guess
so yea thats my opinion

Yeah, maybe. Good idea.

IT's a good question. It got me thinking. She DID see the outcome of it, she saw Bella in the ballet studio. But at the same time I think she should of seen James calling her. Or she should of seen Bella after she got hurt, especially after Bella decided to go to James. I don't know though, maybe she WAS just distracted by other things. Because if you read the first chapter of Midnight Sun on Stephenie Meyer's site, Edward even says that she was too preoccupied with Jasper to see him killing Bella, when she should of seen it after he decided he was going to do that. So maybe she was just preoccupied.
