Tour in Kansas City, MO

i want to share with you my very sad, depressing sob story about this.

so i live very close to KC,MO, and when i saw that Stephenie was going to come here for the Host, i freaked out. i told my mom about it and for my birthday (which was April 15th), she got me the Deluxe Package Book Signing Ticket thing. basically, i get a ticket to go and meet Stephenie, listen to the Q&A, get two books signed (The Host and Twilight, of course), and a pre-ordered copy of Breaking Dawn that will arrive with a special surprise. i screamed with excitement for about an hour. i was so pumped and couldn't wait for May 8th to roll around.

then the bomb drops.

at my high school, i am HIGHLY involved in the choir and theater. about this time every year, our choir (actually it's 5 different choirs with upwards of 400 members) have this crazy, fun concert where each choir is assigned a musical and we get to perform in full costume with set a medley of the songs. it's a lot of fun and will be even more fun this year because our choir was assigned one of my favorite musicals, The Scarlett Pimpernel. this concert is a huge deal. if you can't be there for some reason, you are screwed. not only will the teacher kill you (he's insane, but people love him), but you will pretty much fail the class. so not going isn't an option.

so one day, my mom's taking me somewhere and i begin to gush about how excited i am about being able to meet Stephenie, when my mom goes "Hey, isn't May 8 one of the days of Blue Moon?" (Blue Moon's the name of the concert, btw). insert shock here. i immediately start trying to calm myself by saying "No, no. May 8th's a thursday. i really don't think Blue Moon's on a thursday. Blue Moon's got to be friday and saturday." so as soon as i get home, i run to my room to check my planner, making outrageous promises to God, saying that if Blue Moon isn't on the 8th, i'll eat all my vegetables, be nice to my mom, and be a model citizen for the rest of my life. i look at May 8th, and what do you know.

Blue Moon starts at 7pm on May 8th.
The Book Signing starts at 7pm on May 8th.
Guess which one i'll be missing?

after crying for a while (i think i was starting to worry my mother), i tell her that she can't go to the opening night of Blue Moon because she needs to go meet Stephenie for me. she needs to get my books signed and possibly tape the Q&A so i can watch it for myself. and then i decided that i'm going to write Stephenie a letter and give it to my mom to give to her, so it will kind of be like i met her, but not at all. i made my mom read the series so she'll appreciate meeting her more.

but it sucks. i really wanted to meet her.
end of sob story.
