This are my thoughts on the book. I see your point about the battle.

Johanna wrote:Sorry that it's so long, I tried to make it easier to read with the titles. I just need to get all my thoughts out.

I think the main reason for the bashing on SM is that the last book was more mature, and less innocent. Some readers won't understand that and start hating on the book. I think that's just a stupid reason.

Rob-effect
Hopefully this will blow over like the "Rob- effect" did. I mean most people love Rob now, right?
So when people come over the shockers in Breaking Dawn they will surly start to love it.

Love
Some wanted more detail, some wanted less. I think she did a clean and elegant trick ending it right where she did. Then people would understand that it happened, but it would not get to detailed for the younger readers.

Reneesme
First we have the name. I have to admit; first I dint like it and thought it sounded like a fan fiction name. But after a while I started accepting it more. I'm ok with it now.
People saying the pregnancy was unexpected and not possible. First of all; how do you lead up to an unexpected pregnancy? Of course you can't, you're suppose to be as shocked as Bella and Edward.
And it's possible. Stephanie has never said it wasn't possible, and it's her mythology.
Can I just say that the birth really scared me? I'm seriously waiting a little to have children and considering adopting. :P
Jacob imprinting on her. I was rutting for Leah, but I'm ok with him imprinting on Reneesme. I just hope Leah finds someone to be with.

Epic Battle
Many people was hoping and/or expecting a battle in the end of Breaking dawn. So was I. I have to admit I was disappointed over not having a battle, but the excitement before the Vulturi coming was just as thrilling. I really liked Bella stepping up and being the one to protect the ones she loved for a change.
I think I would have liked it better if a Cullen died. Not that I don't love them all, but that would have made a better dramatic effect, since we dint get a fight.

Ending
And people need to stop focussing on the ending, I agree it was a little too perfect, but you know what? It's her story!
Even though I found the ending klisje, I liked how she finally let him read her thoughts, since it had been hinted about him being frustrated not being able to get inside her mind all through the saga.
People need to stop focusing on the ending and enjoy the story. I really enjoyed Jacob's part, I laugh and cried a lot. He's funny, who would have thought that? :)

SM's great and don't deserve people hating on her.
I think people also gets angry because that's it, the story is finished.

Every good book ends, but is that a reason to not enjoy the story?

(sorry everyone im sperating my thoughts now)

i thought reneesme was cute some of the time but i didnt like the whole bella loving being pregnant part. i dont really see how edward supported her being pregnant, i mean i know that he loves reneesme, but with what he can do with his eyes i dont see how he couldnt of just perswaded her out of it.

ok im kinda getting frustrated about this, i dont hate SM or anything but i dont see why people are being like well its over and done with just like it. well sorry but i didnt love it like everyone else did but what ever its my opinion, but from the sounds of it its not just my opinion.

i kind of thought that leah and jake were going to end up together for a little while

how did everyone not hate the part about bella being a perfect vampire? i was kind of like umm ok what? even if she was only super bloodthirsty for like a month or so i would of been ok with that, but, she was just fine. she just hardly lost control like once, with jake and then she was like ok im all set now.

bella and edward.... ok well there just so much to say. in the whole first three books not once was she not totally and super in love with him, well except when she didnt knw him but thats beside the point. now it just seems like well ok im marries to him so he knows i love him, i mean really did they even kiss more than like 3 times? the marrage, the honeymoon, and at the end of the book. THAT WAS IT! they were more in love than anything then it was just over, done, finished, what were they thinking? "ok their married now enough with the romantic stuff they get it."

I absolutly loved it! I got every single thing I wanted, plus more, all in an unexpected but awesome way! I was so happy with Bella book one with the honeymoon, and I though her addiction to eggs and the funiture/nighty shredding was hilarous. The Jacob book made me see jacob in whole new light (and actually like him) and the snarky comments and blonde jokes jokes craked me up (even though I love Rosalie)! The last Bella book was awesome because I totally guessed that all the vampire's would come together, Renesmee is awesome, Kate and Garrett are awesome, and I liked how the end was a mental battle (no one died, but there actually was a fight). Plus, the last page or so when Bella finally shows Edward her thought was the sweetest thing I've ever seen!

I really wish people would be so VOCAL about hating it, or even not liking it! Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but it is just plain wrong to force that opinion on others. Fine, tell people like you didn't like it! Telling people it was horrible and they shouldn't buy it, on the other hand, is horrible! Have you heard of the "Don't burn it, return it!" campain? That is just the kind of thing that will make Stephanie's life hell! We are all so lucky that her sister though Twilight was good and encouraged her to publish it! Now, with the Midnight Sun Leak, she might just decide that her fans have given up on her and it would be a waist to publish any more books, including Midnight Sun! Of course, we know she won't do that because she is a wonderful person and she knows that there will always be someone who wants to hear more from the characters in her head!

Oh comon your kidding me right. *Cullenist* you cant be serious. I dont see any problem with people saying that they dont like it. I do get your pont that the people who are being so outrageous about it should be stopped. But comon you cant return a book thats just wrong, its like if you wore an outfit then returned it, they wont take i back.(well its a bad example cause some times they do take it back, but you get my point) but seriously i think SM knew that some people would love it and others wouldnt thats just the way that somethings are. i dont think SM is personally hurt because people didnt like it, she still gets the money and there still people who did love it (but i dont understand why). Shes still going to publish midnight sun, but thats it she already told us that she isnt publishing edward pov for new moon because it would be too sad for her so why would she skip it and then make eclipse from his pov. she wouldnt ther series is probably going to end there or else it would be just ridiculous. what would the have after it all 4 from alices pov? or carlisle? no thats it, itll be over. i loved the other 3 but it ended there, personally i wish she wouldve taken more time on this she might of come to her sences and re-wrote something better.

I agree that people seem to love whatever they get. I mean it's ok to not love everything in the book. That doesn't make you less of a twilight fan. But bashing with no arguments is just plain stupid.

I'm jealous of all you who loved the book. I really am. I went in with a completely open mind but I was repelled by the so-called plot and it's "twist" of the baby. I really wished I could have liked this book, but I can't. I've tried.

I find it so annoying when people who love it attack people who don't and tell them "to read the book again!" or "It's already written there's nothing you can you" or my favourite, "It's Stephenie's book - she can do what she pleases with it." First of all, reading something I read didn't like the first time won't change my mind. Why would it? Secondly, yes I understand there's nothing I can do about the book already being written but that doesn't mean I can't voice my opinion on what I'd liked to see changed.

I find the characters are OOC. Yes, I understand they've matured, how so fast, don't ask me but even if they do mature I should be able to feel it's the same character somewhat. Bella didn't even feel like Bella. What happened to the girl who flipped out about getting a birthday present? Yet she didn't even bat an eye at the fact that she was pregnant.

Anyways, kudos to Stephenie for publishing it but it just didn't do anything for me.

Breaking Dawn literally had me swooning over every plot twist. SM did it again! I couldn't believe that within the first 20 pages I was already absorbed into the book. I had to keep putting it down sadly due to my friends calling and showing up at the house. It's like what part of "I'm reading today, leave me alone." did they miss huh? Lol.

But the book all in all, I totally and utterly LOVED.

- The wedding, it couldn't have gone any better even if I had envisioned it in my own mind. I loved the entire scene. The part of how Bella was still so unsure and wobbly while she tried to walk gracefully down the stairs behind Alice found me smiling. And then the reception party afterward where Edward removed the garter from Bella's leg with his teeth? I was swooning to be Bella! Lol.

- The honeymoon. It spoke for itself, it was beyond beautiful. And I appreciate SM for the concern for the younger readers and keeping the sex scenes undetailed, although we all were swooning to hear just how much of a mastermind Edward is in bed! ;]

- Renesmee. Do I really, need to explain that one? I couldn't even see her considering it's a book, but I envisioned her in my mind and I fell in love with her. The child of sweet innocent Bella, and defined and well raised Edward? Absolutely behind belief, adorable. Bella's eyes, Edwards hair, yet Charlie's curls. So cute. =]

- Alice and Jasper running away. That killed me at first because I totally and completely love Alice. For a jumpy "let's go shopping!" person she had me totally falling for her. She is by far one of my favorite characters. And when her and Jasper ran off I was on the brink of tears because I felt so torn because I didn't know what was to become of that situation.

- The Volturi. I just wanted to wrap my hands around their throats and squeeze. Although being vampires that would have no effect on them. So maybe I'd just tear them all to little pieces and throw them into a bonfire. I was itching for the battle between the Volturi and the Cullens and other covens among the nomads. I was so psyched up for it even though I was fearing at the same time the lives that would be sacrificed. But then out of no where Alice shows up with another half human half vampire! Throwing the battle out of the window, yet saving the many lives we have all come to love and adore. The Volturi just quit and surrendered and walked away. I couldn't believe the all mighty royal vampire family could just give up like that.

But anyhow, I totally love Breaking Dawn, and I TOTALLY love Renesmee.
Maybe there really is an Edward for me.

I thought the book was absolutely amazing, although i have to agree there where a few moments where i was upset....
still, i just LOVE these books and a few little confusing plot schemes weren't going to make me hate it so quickly, still, if any one can answer me this one question, PLZ!!!
how could edward still produce sperm to get bella pregnant?
that just threw me off for nearly half of the book

oh, and just so u know, i'm on the vampires side, totally team edward, but jacobs part of the story had me so interested, it was nice to see how he deals with things and the situation... and i luv seth, he is just so cute, like a little brother to jacob or something, jacob is like his hero and seth is his awesome little fan... idk, i just liked that part of it, but the third book was definately the best, after bella turns to a vampire.

also, i hadn't thought much about why the vampires didn't use their eyes to persuade bella much, but probably the point that rosalie was there with her, trying to keep the baby made it hard for the rest of them to get in close enough proximity to do that, i'm pretty sure bella would have fallen for it in just a few minutes had it not been for rosalie.
Alice for sure!

And i thought that it was way too quick of a solution between bella and jake, i mean comon it was over in like 2 seconds after he wouldnt let her go for 2 whole books, and everyone was ok with it? It seemed like edward was being a complete push over durring the whole thing, he never even questioned her about anything not even once. Wouldnt you think it was weird if u walked in on someone randomly burning one of their books for no apparent reason and al he asked was why then nothing. When she went to see J he was like oh... ok? The whole book was filled with half fast fixes and i couldnt find alot of interest, even when i loved the other 3. And i loved renesseme but that whole part seemed a little odd to me.

I agree some parts were a bit daft, and moved on too quickly.

Just because Edward is a vampire doesn't mean he can't produce sperm. That was never stated in the books. But still, I understand how it can be confusing. My mom went on a rant about how vampires can't get anyone pregnant. Long story on that ranting. But anywho. Like I said to my mom, the female vampires can't get pregnant due to the never aging thing. And in order to give birth it involves aging 9 months for the baby to grow and develop. But male vampires apparently, as shown with Edward, can cause human females to be pregnant. Apparently the male vampires are still giving off sperm but because it's almost always with a female vampire the sperm is never obvious because it's a female vampire, and they can't age so pregnancy isn't an option.
Long rambling, but there's your answer lol.
Maybe there really is an Edward for me.

Well, since we're all already stating our opinions... here's mine:

Breaking Dawn was a great book. Every part of it was crucial for a true finale, and SM portrayed each scene perfectly, per usual. About the sex scenes: there are some who are extremely young reading this saga (my sister, for one, is 10, reading the books, and I'd prefer if she didn't start reading explicit sex scenes right now.) If you wanted more, I'm pretty sure that your mind can create things for you.

I'm a girl, and I LOVED Jake's part in the book. The chapter titles were hilarious, and he has such a strong personality. Everything within the pack was solved very fluently (I've never liked Sam, that's why =))
KATI not KATIE -- the marriage between Bella and Edward was all explained in Eclipse, even started back in New Moon. It was long and drawn out, because Bella didn't want to get married so young! But Renee said something then -- she wasn't ready to get married so young and have a kid -- which points that Stephenie acknowledges that everyone is entitled to their own choice, and everyone is different in the choice they make. Therefore, she is not telling teenagers to get married and make babies. The marriage between Bella and Edward was long and drawn out exactly because Bella did not want to get married -- she & Edward have been discussing this since New Moon, I think it's time you got accustomed to the idea. There is no need to harp on about it any longer. You've made your point -- can we move on?

Personally, I think some of you are ripping Breaking Dawn apart piece by piece, searching for its flaws. For example: Twilight7322, you say that the pregnancy was way too long because both Bella and Edward were in pain, and you do not like their pain. Yet you also say that New Moon is your favourite book. Come on -- what is pain if it is not the separation of Edward and Bella? You did not like Renesmee's birth. But here's a review on a life lesson we all know. Sex + no protection = pregnancy. Bella and Edward had no idea that they could even concieve, so they went ahead -- woohoo, we have a baby. Bella felt connected to 'her little nudger' (must you be reminded?) and SM led up to that gradually. Of course she was going to love her baby -- if she hadn't, then BD would not have been the happy ending book it now rests as, and I'm positive that there would be even more claims that Breaking Dawn was not exemplary.

Also: you say that SM 'got her money.' Was that meant to be offensive? I'm pretty sure Stephenie is not writing this for the money -- maybe for the enjoyment of her fans. "personally, i wish she wouldve taken more time on this she might of come to her sences and re-wrote something better" ??? That's not fair. That's trashing SM, and if you find that Breaking Dawn was so incompetent, so mediocre, why do you spend your time creating havoc? Just leave it alone.

I have a lot more to say -- but I'll keep the rest to myself. Because honestly, this has gotten ridiculous. If you didn't enjoy it, fine. But there's no need to make rude assumptions.

NedraLynnCullen, IronGiant Mobile, Cullenist among others, I give you a standing ovation. =)

They aren't rude assumptions, they're opinions. I think the phrase "still got the money" is pretty correct. Also, I didn't even have to search for the flaws that I found. They're glaringly obvious and deeply depressing. (Besides, the entire point of critiquing a book is to find the things that you enjoyed or didn't.) Also, it's not exactly fair for the people who liked Breaking Dawn, not just you, to try to shut down the people who were disappointed. It's not just you, really, I'm just SO tired of hearing people use the argument "It's just a book" or "Stephenie Meyer can write it how she wants, it's her book" as a way to defend how poor this book was in comparison to the others. I mean, who was disappointed in Eclipse, or New Moon? I wasn't. I can see some people being ANNOYED with New Moon, but every loved the end of it. But Breaking Dawn has the biggest number of fans disappointed, and there just isn't a way to get around that fact.

I had no problem with Bella and Edward marrying, also, for the very reason you stated. It was long and drawn out. They'd been talking about getting married forever, and I was ready for that idea. I mean, marrying young ISN'T generally a good idea, but I knew that as the characters, Bella and Edward would make it. It's the baby that's the problem, if you ask me. Stephenie crossed a line. But it's MY line, not yours, so you don't need to tell me I'm wrong. Because I'm not. Opinions cannot be wrong. I was really very happy with how Stephenie approached the marriage - mainly because I agreed with Edward's side. (The whole "you'll become one of the eternal damned but you won't say 'I do?' Whut?" thing.) It was just the baby, and the whole situation comes down to Bella Gets Married and Has Babies. That's become the entire thing of the series. If Bella had been all about the babies in the earlier books, I would not have read them. You know why? Because having kids early generally screws people up, because kids are EXPENSIVE. Especially babies. I mean, can you name one female, important character (who remembers their human life and wants - not Alice) who DOES NOT want kids? Seriously. Esme tried to commit suicide because hers died. Rosalie wanted babies likE ZOMG. And then LEAH, out of NO WHERE, is like *Sob* I can't have babies!!! And of course, Bella's already popping one out at this point. Stephenie is putting every female character into the same personality column - the column of the I WANT BABIES AND MEN column. All Bella ever needs to be happy is a man and a baby. (Really. Even in New Moon and Eclipse she's like that. She defines herself by the man she's with - "Wolf girl" and "Vampire girl". Wayta Go Girl Power. I'm not even a feminist.) I'm not saying wanting babies and men is a bad thing, exactly. Lord knows I want men. (Not babies though. They cry and scream too much.) But it's a PROBLEM when books aimed at young girls are basically filled to the brim of the concept that, if you get married young and have children, everything will be okay. That is my problem. I mean, Stephenie isn't literally printing the words "get married and pregnant" but her STORY is saying that that's a good thing. Her STORY says that all Bella needs to be happy is her child and her husband. Bella has, literally, nothing that is hers that defines her. She says it herself in Breaking Dawn, that she had no talents and wasn't good at anything, and that now she finally has things that define her - wife, mother. What kind of life is that? Excuse me, but I like to think that I'm more then just somebody's woman. I think BELLA, as a functioning organism capable of free will and free thought, human or vampire, should want to be more then just "Edward's Wife" or "Renesmee's Mother". That's the real issue. I mean, it wouldn't be such a big deal if there was like, ANY character who wasn't obsessed with having babies. Like, Alice isn't okay, but she ALSO doesn't remember if she wanted babies when she was alive. (She probably didn't think about it, being all asylum and all that.) And all the OTHER female characters aren't important enough for it to be mentioned. (Jessica, Lauren, Renee, Angela...) I was honestly counting on Leah to be the one girl in the entire series who wasn't wrapped up in HAVING KIDS.

In summary, there is more to life then being a wife or a mother, and Stephenie doesn't mention that EVER.

AS A STAND ALONE NOVEL Breaking Dawn wasn't too bad. It was interesting and it kept my attention until the very end, and there were parts (the birth, the Volturi thing) that kept me on the edge of my seat and DYING to know what happened next. It was exciting.

AS A CONTINUATION Breaking Dawn was terrible. The characters weren't being themselves, the plotline was practically never-ending, and the idea for it was absolutely horrific.

And the issue with Renee is that her character was fixed as an Anti-Early-Marriage person. But her only child is getting married at eighteen and she's suddenly okay with it? Um. No. That's ridiculous. The Renee we all knew from the first three probably would not have tried to stop Bella, but she wouldn't be super happy about it. She'd be at the very LEAST annoyed.
