I saw it on the shelf loads, and I picked it up once, skimmed the blurb, thought it was some medieval gothic book because it was black and red. And I saw the word vampire, and the whole medieval thing stuck...Really stupid. It was ages ago when I did that.

But then I saw it again, earlier this year, and actually read the back of it...and bought it. And obsessed over it.

I actually first saw it on the New York Times best sellers list. The word vampires and romance stood out to me. I was even more curious about the book when i saw the cover. It looked really simple and different compared to other covers. When i started reading it was a little slow to begin with, that was until Edward came into the story :D

I refused to read it for almost a year. My friend Sarah gave it to me and I told her I wouldn't read a book with vampires (its an old, childhood fear actually). She forced it on me and it sat on my shelf for a month before she finally took it back. I look back on how much I hated it then and how much I loved it after I read it an decided never to judge a book again lol.

I was just getting into vampire stuff, but mostly all the old scary story folklore stuff and Dracula. But then I heard of it out of nowhere and started noticing how popular it was, then I happened to come across it at barnes & nobles, I was looking at it and read the synopsis, and thought it was going to be a cheesy generic modern vampire story. Then, I can't stand how much I'm hearing about it, so the next time I see it, I read the first few pages. Now obviously you won't know how good it'll be from just reading the beginning. So dismissing it again, all the good things I hear about it drive me insane, and I love reading. So it becomes hard to resist, I buy it, then I get hooked on it...Its truly not what it sounds like when you think of a modern day vampire love story involving teens. xD

I was fascinated with its cover when I first saw it. I don't know but something about its cover make me wanted to read it. By the time I know of Twilight, I'm already into vampire novels but mostly of Anne Rice. I wanted something Young Adult so I bought it.

I'd seen it at some bookselves and I didn't really take a really good look. But one day I was in a bookstore and I sat down and started to read the first chapter. It was so addicting. The thing that interested me was the cover, I'm not really sure what it was but it really attracted my attention. The week after I read it people started to read it. But at first it looked sort of weird to me.

lmao.
i hated books. and when i thought of vampires, i was basically thinking Buffy. so i just ignored everyone.
my friend read it a couple times in class. i noticed, but didn't really register it in my head.
then my friend literally strangled me and forced me to read it. i still owe her, big time.

I had seen it a few times, and the cover had me curious, so I read the back.... and swore never to read it. I usually just CANNOT read love stories, so I vowed to never, ever, no matter how popular it became, read it. I told many, many, MANY people this.... and now I get all the sarcastic comments about how I would NEVER read it, but now cannot be separated from it.

Doesn't matter. I'm happy I broke the rules

To be honest it wasn't the vampire thing that put me off.
Or the romance thing.

The reason I didn't want to pick it up in the first place was because I didn't trust my friends book taste. I know, I know. So sad. The only books her and I liked were Harry Potter. She loved the Princess Diaries *hates PD*. But I eventually picked it up out of curiosity and loyalty to her and...here I am!

Well it's good you decided to read it.

It's crazy so many people didn't want to read it when they first heard about it.
